Abstract

Those of us who study the traditional dances of our country, sometimes do not resort to an adequate methodology that leads us to know in depth the object of study. Many times we believe we are facing a thousand-year-old dance that is practiced since remote times, when in fact its origin and execution are of current times. We believe that being there, in the place of events, witnessing a dance, is enough to testify that it is a traditional dance of a certain locality. And we do not realize that the people constantly build and reconfigure their dance expressions and legitimize which expressions assume the category of traditional for them. Therefore, the researcher must go beyond the discourse and what they see.
